If you happen to be hanging around the NW School of Freeride, sometimes you end up with some interesting company.  So you receive a phone call.  Ben Boyko would like to build something at your mt. bike school to shoot a new video for Rockstar energy drink.  What is my response?  Well let’s see, I hum well, heck yah!!!  Are you flipping kidding me?  That would be fantabulous.  What arangemets need to made?  Should I change my pants now, or later, because I think I peed mine?

Boyko had me contact machinery rental businesses to make sure we could get an appropriate machine for the building.  Done.  Plenty available in the area.  What I could not do, was control the weather.  It rained like mad, day after day.  I thought I would grow webbed feet, or build an arc, if it did not stop raining.  When it finally did stop raining the ground was saturated and a pond ( I called it Lake Boyko, it was big!) had developed in front of one of our stunts.

The video shoot had to be postponed, but all features are in location.  Ben has remained in contact so he can come shoot as soon as the ground is firm enough.

Our resident skateboard park builders have been at it again.  Check out the new quarter pipe.  It is located at the end of the rolling pumper section in front of the cafeteria.  Looks great!  Can’t wait until she’s cured and stripped of forms so we can test her out.

Constantly adding features at NWSOF, here is some of the latest creations we have to play on.  Pinner has been busy as a beaver playing lumerjack with his chainsaw again.  Warning!  Objects in photos are funner in person.

New ergonomically correct log ride. In the process of getting this baby into location, I sank my truck in knee deep mud. Whoo hoo what a way to start off the day.

We are super excited about our growing relationship with Gravity Components.   Gravity is the shred line of parts from FSA, Full Speed Ahead.   Several of their Gravity team riders are going to be frequenting the NWSOF on a regular basis.   Rulers like Phil Sundbaum, Kelly McGraw, and Aaron Lutze.   Well, Lutze is more of a Video/Manager ruler in the Gravity group, but he also pretty much slays it on a bike as well.    Regardless, the Gravity team, and their components, will be a welcome friend around the NWSOF.   Check out this sweet video they just popped out of their team.   Good Stuff.

Tonic Fab team rider, Billy Lewis, came up to the Windells ranch to shred some biznezz with camera ninja Aaron Lutze.    There has been a ton of building going on in the woods, and also a bunch of construction in the street area.  We have not had a ton of bike footage showcasing the transition elements of the NWSOF.   Now we do.   Thanks Billy and Lutze!   Ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out, check it out.

A big thanks to everyone who came out for our first BMX Jam ever.   We are in progress of developing our BMX program and terrain.   We threw this jam for one reason……raise funds to develop more bmx terrain.   %100 of all the monies are going straight in to the terrain.   By summer 2009, when the camps are banging, will should be up and running at full speed.   If we were in a BMX race, we would win the hole shot.   If we were dancers, we’d be Michael Jackson in Thriller.   Again, thanks to everyone who showed up and layed down shred, as well $15.   A big high five to the “Goods” Bike shop in Portland Oregon for helping spread the word.   Here is a little video snippet of some random shredding.  If you click on the link below, it should open into the video.   Or maybe download it?   Hmmmm?   Something like that anyway?   I am not much of a web nerd.   Oh yeah, it opens as a quicktime video, so you will need a quicktime plug-in………windows PC dorks!

Oh sure, we have been building cement jibs and bmx style dirt jumps all summer.   We have some technical freeride trails in as well.   However, our main stage for summer 2009 will be our freeride slopestyle park.  We started the contruction off with our guest builder, and former Crankworxs Champion, Ben Boyko.   Look for Ben’s line in upcoming videos this spring.   We would like to thank Ian Millar of deeplikepow.com for the outstanding imagery.   The pictures really do tell thousands of words.
